SPEED
Most beginners work entirely too fast because they are accustomed to the speed of normal writing. Calligraphy is done much more slowly. However, it is important to remember that the pen should be moved smoothly. Imagine a thick oil that is flowing onto the paper. That is a good image of the correct speed.
